What the people are saying!

Transplaining works to create a safer world for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals through education and conversation.

"This was the most impactful education I've ever received. As an SLP who's been in practice for almost 40 years, I don't say that lightly. I've taken so many courses over the years, and this addressed gaps in my knowledge that I never knew were crucial until I engaged."

"AC leads such deep, important conversations. We can't grow as professionals until everyone takes this course. Everyone should take this course!"

"What can I say? I've never learned so much in one course. The best part is that all of it is immediately applicable. I'm a better SLP, better professor and better HUMAN for having enrolled in CREDIT. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

“I just attended the initial Transplaining webinar and loved it. My undergrad journey to becoming as SLP has not provided sufficient LGBTQI+ cultural competency training. This webinar makes me wish all individuals studying to become speech therapist service providers could learn this information in order to prevent negative experiences, harmful micro-aggression, and further trauma to trans people. Big thanks to AC for doing this much needed work to help break down access barriers for the transgender community in both medical & educational environments.”

“I went to a session with @transplaining the other day and learned so much about an ally to the LGBTQI community. It’s way too easy to unintentionally use microaggressions. I highly recommend his training to SLPs and SLP students, so that they can become more culturally competent providers. “

“This training was so important and necessary- as a clinician and as a human! We talked about so many things that were eye opening to experiences that I haven’t lived. I have already started reporting styles we discussed in my work and I hop to learn so much more!”

A personal note from an ICU nurse in attendance at a hospital training:

“This is Kelsey, the co-chair of the Collaborative Governance Diversity & Inclusion committee that you presented to today. I just wanted to extend a personal thank you for your vulnerability, honesty, and frankness today. It was so powerful to hear your story at our institution both as a professional and as a patient. You handled all of the questions and "hypothetical scenarios" with grace and aplomb. I'm glad the hospital has made some strides since your employment here, but am also frustrated by how small and slow those changes have been.

On a personal note, it was incredibly powerful to hear your experiences as a transgender man entering the professional healthcare setting. As a queer gender non-conforming person, it was incredibly poignant to hear someone put words to the varied experiences I've had throughout my career. I've just begun thinking about my gender identity myself and one of the biggest points of anxiety is my professional standing, both within the context of my current employer and within the context of being a bedside clinician. Today's presentation had a positive impact - you've shown me that there are ways to be both out and a professional.

In today's climate, I believe it is imperative to tell people when they've had a positive impact. First and foremost, thank you for your candid presentation to our committee and for meeting our committee members exactly where they were on their educational journey. Most importantly, thank you for being an exemplary role model for this non-binary ICU nurse. I hope our professional paths cross again.”
